The next Digital Humanities event organized by DIGI will take place on Friday 6 March 2020. Prof. Elena Pierazzo (University of Tours) will give a seminar entitled: "Digital Humanities: a Historical and Sociological Approach". The seminar will take place in room 5C404, from 2pm to 4pm. Elena Pierazzo is Professor of Digital Humanities at the University of Tours, at the Centre d’Études Superieures de la Renaissance where she directs the MA program in Digital Humanities and approaches to the digitisation cultural heritage (Intelligence des Patrimoines); formerly she was professor at the University of Grenoble Alpes and previously Lecturer at the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London where she was the coordinator of the MA in Digital Humanities. She has a PhD in Italian Philology from the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa; her specialism is Italian Renaissance texts, digital edition of Early Modern and modern draft manuscripts, digital editing and text encoding. She has been the Chair of the Text Encoding Initiative for two mandates, and has served for two mandates in the TEI Technical Council and was involved in the TEI user-community, with a special interest in the transcription, edition and cataloguing of modern and medieval manuscripts. She was co-chairs the working group on digital editions of the European Network NeDiMAH (http://archives.esf.org/coordinating-research/research-networking-programmes/humanities-hum/nedimah.html) and one of the scientist in chief for the ITN DiXiT, a European Network devoted to the training of doctoral students to the practice of digital scholarly editing (Digital Scholarly Editions Initial Training Network, http://dixit.uni-koeln.de/). She is member of the scientific committee of the ABES (Agence Bibliographique de l’Ensiegnement Superieur: http://abes.fr/), of the National Research Infrastructure ColleX-Persée (https://www.collexpersee.eu/), and of the MSH of Besançon (http://www.msh-reseau.fr/msh/maison-des-sciences-de-lhomme-et-de-lenvironnement-besancon). In 2019 she has been chosen with Fabio Ciotti by the ADHO (Alliance of the Digital Humanities Organisation, http://adho.org/) as the co-Chair of the Program Committee of the DH2019 in Utrecht. She is particularly engaged in teaching Digital Humanities and Digital Editing; she directs the Summer School EDEEN, has been teaching a large number of workshops and trainings, some of them in connection with the CAHIER consortium of the Très Grand Infrastrucutre de Recherche (TGIR) HumaNum, and has created in collaboration with Marjorie Burghart the online course in Digital Editing hosted by the DariahTeach platform.
